There’s a secret that every single pro athlete uses to change their mindset, and it’s something that you can use as well.
Here’s the truth: the story you tell yourself is the one that comes true.
Meaning: what you focus on and who you believe you are will impact the results that you get in life.
Example: if you’re focused on “this is so hard,” then you’ll get results that reflect that.
On the other hand, if you’re focused on “I’m going to be the best, and do what the best does,” then you usually get those results.
The reason for this is because you have a difference in standards that you hold for yourself; in the first scenario, you have low standards.
In the second scenario, you have higher standards.
It’s like the great Tom Brady said - “I wanted to be the best I could be. And I tried to be that person daily.”
You see it right there: “the best.” Those were the standards.
And those are the standards that you need for yourself as well.
How to Do It - Answer These Questions
Ask yourself what your current story is. Is it one that’s positive? Is it one that’s not? Be real.
In 5-10 years, where do I want to be with my sport? Who do I want to be?
Title this new identity. Give yourself a new title that fits your ambition. Example: The Best Quarterback in the League
Ask yourself what it’s going to take to get there. These become your new standards.
Ask yourself, who do I need to study if I’m going to get there? Be specific. List no more than 3 people.
Use this Morning Power Audio each morning to get into the right state.
